Strong result for CBT driver Higgins / World Rally Championship

CBT-backed driver Mark Higgins and his co-driver Carl Williamson claimed an excellent 10th place overall, and third in class WRC2, on the final round of the 2013 World Rally Championship, Wales Rally GB.

The rally was not without its problems for Higgins and the MSL Fiesta R5 but they got away to an excellent start – after the first three stages Mark was 12th overall. “If I’d been offered that at the start of the rally I’d have jumped at it, so I’m quite happy with the start we have made,” said Mark.

This success continued into the Friday stages south of Newtown and the Higgins Fiesta jumped to 10th overall overnight, a position they would hold to the finish despite suffering technical issues on Saturday which hampered their progress and allowed Jari Ketomaa to overtake them in class.

At the ceremonial finish in Llandudno, Mark was pleased with his result and said: “I could not have been here without my sponsors, so I want to say a massive thank you to them. The thing that has made this most special is the support we have received from sponsors, marshals and spectators, before and during the rally – it’s really quite humbling.”
