Irish stages beckon for CBT Camaro / Tour Ireland 2015

The CBT Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro Z28 will be on the Tour Britannia trail again in 2015, this time contesting the organisation’s new Tour Ireland. The May 12-15 event marks the 10th anniversary of the first Tour Britannia; CBT drivers Stuart Scott and Steve Wood have competed every year, collecting along the way five class wins as well as an overall best finish of second.

“Hopefully we can go one better for the 10th anniversary and claim that long overdue outright victory,” said Stuart. “The Irish stages of the event look really exciting and we are very much looking forward to it.”

The three-day event will be based in Llandudno, North Wales and will visit Ireland for 24 hours in the middle for some sensational closed-road stages, a stage and a race at Mondello Park and generally to enjoy the ‘craic’ of competing in Ireland.

After signing-on and documentation checks on May 12 the event will get underway early on the 13th with a formal start on Llandudno Promenade, followed directly by a stage along the fabulous Great Orme Marine Drive, a highlight of August’s Tour Britannia. The rally then heads for Holyhead and the high-speed ferry to Dun Laoghaire, just south of Dublin. On arrival there will be five terrific tarmac stages on closed public roads in the Wicklow Hills.

After an overnight stop in Dun Laoghaire, the Thursday morning will be spent tackling a stage and a race at nearby Mondello Park circuit. It is then back to the dock in Dun Laoghaire for an ‘Irish loop’ prize-giving before boarding the ferry back to Holyhead. Thursday is completed by a race at Trac Mon.

The final day, Friday, consists of a lap of the glorious Snowdonia countryside, taking in stages around Glan y Gors, Llanbedr airfield and Nant Gwrtheyrn. The finish and prize giving is in Llandudno on Friday evening.
