CBT’s Jordan ends season with a top-eight result / British Touring Cars

CBT-backed Andy Jordan and his Triple Eight Racing MG endured a disappointing end to the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season at Brands Hatch on 11 October, with just a single top-10 finish from the three races to show for his efforts.

After qualifying down in 13th position, the first race of the day was always going to be a hard one for Jordan, and so it proved. Both Andy and his team-mate Jack Goff elected to start from the pit lane for the opening 15-lap encounter, in the hope of setting a quicker lap time and thus a better grid slot for race two. Despite incidents with other competitors further forward, Jordan and Goff fought their way to 19th and 20th places.

Jordan’s lap time earned him 11th place on the race two start grid, and that is the position he held to the chequered flag, having been in the thick of the action for much of the 18 laps.

The final race of 2015 brought out a spirited performance from Jordan. The Red Bull racer got into the top 10 before the first of three safety car periods, which prolonged the wait for the action to really get underway. It was a hard, battling performance from Jordan, who conceded ninth to Gordon Shedden on lap 10 but who then rose to eighth on the final tour when he got the better of Andy Priaulx and Aron Smith.

Andrew, who finished the season fifth in the championship standings, said: “Sadly it was the same story we have had all year where our own problems have prevented us from really getting stuck in. The car was quite a handful in qualifying and we just struggled to progress in the races, but that is racing sometimes. I’ve learned a lot from this season and it has lit a huge fire under me to come back even stronger next year.”
