Double podium at Oulton for CBT’s Jordan / British Touring Cars

CBT-backed Andrew Jordan enjoyed another fine weekend of strong BTCC results at Oulton Park 6/7 June, hustling his MG Triple Eight Racing car to a pair of podium finishes.

After qualifying in fourth position on the grid for MG’s 100th British Touring Car appearance, Andy opted for the soft-compound Dunlop rubber and chased Andy Priaulx’s BMW for duration of the race to claim fourth position.

Jordan set third-fastest lap during race one which gave him a second-row start slot for race two, and he pursued leaders Plato and Shedden, holding third place throughout and finishing just 1.5s behind the second-placed Honda.

The finale saw Andy make a clinical pass on Neal’s Civic at Lodge corner on lap nine, and Jordan then hustled after race leader Sam Tordoff, who had got the jump on Neal a lap earlier. Despite reeling in the BMW driver rapidly, there was little that Jordan could do to pass Tordoff on the narrow twisty turns of the Oulton Park circuit and he had to settle for second.

Said Andy: “It was good to be at the front and challenging for the lead, albeit a little bit disappointing not to have taken a win. I can go home tonight knowing I gave it my all. Looking at the weekend, a fourth, third and second is a decent set of results, and it gives us a nice boost as we go to Croft; I needed this result, the team needed it too. I’m feeling very positive about where we are with the car, and I’d like to say a big ‘well done’ to all the Triple Eight MG guys.”

Jordan holds fourth place in the championship post-Oulton, 13 points behind leader Plato.
