Pirtek Racing’s Jordan secured pole position for the third consecutive season at the high-speed Hampshire circuit, and took a lights-to-flag victory in the opening race of the day, his first win at Thruxton. “I’ve finally converted a pole position at Thruxton into a victory,” said an elated Jordan. “I was helped a little by the battle behind but the car felt fantastic and in truth we had a lot more in the tank.”

It was Jordan’s third victory of the season following his twin wins at Brands Hatch in March. A podium finish at Donington Park in April, as well as a second-place finish in Thruxton race two, help put him eight points ahead of works Honda driver Gordon Shedden at the top of the championship table.

“To come through Thruxton unscathed and get a decent points haul is brilliant,” added Andy. “It’s been a great touring car weekend, and a great weekend for Honda. The main thing is that we’ve got a lot of points on the board and managed to get through without any major issues, which can be tricky to do around here.”

Oulton Park on 8 June is the next stop on the BTCC calendar.
