CBT Camaro to tackle Mini Britannia / 2014 Mini Britannia

Following their class-winning performance, and second place overall, in last year’s Mini Britannia, Stuart Scott, Steve Wood and the CBT Chevrolet Camaro are to return to the event with the aim of going one better. The one-day event is scheduled for Saturday 10 May, and features stages in and around Surrey.

“We’ve yet to see an entry list,” says Stuart, “so we don’t know what sort of opposition we will face. But the Camaro performed magnificently on the Mini Britannia last year and we have every hope it will do so again. It would be great to get an outright win for the Chevrolet.”
The CBT Camaro is a replica of the machine raced by Richard Lloyd in the British Saloon Car Championship in the 1970s, the same car which most famously won the 1973 Tour of Britain, piloted by James Hunt and Robert Fearnall.

Mini Britannia schedule and venues
Scrutineering and documentation will take place at the Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Park on Friday afternoon, 9 May. The cars will be flagged away from 0815 the following day from the front of the Woodcote Park main building at one-minute intervals. They will exit via the main gate and head through the lanes, then via the Dorking ring road, going south before swinging west to Dunsfold Park, the home of BBC Top Gear, near Cranleigh, where they will tackle a three-mile stage.
They then head north, to Brooklands, where they will drive up the test hill and around some of the old banking, past Concord and the other aircraft, to the museum. The rally has been given access to the Mercedes-Benz World track for a stage utilising most of the available tarmac, which is overseen by the main building.
After lunch the rally takes a more leisurely route to Dunsfold Park for a further demanding stage, followed by a number of special tests. It is then back to Woodcote Park for a stage in the grounds. The day ends with results, prize-giving and supper in the 19th Hole.
